I can't remember the title (but I know Gregory Peck played the lead in the Hollywood adaptation). I think the climax of the book is this auto race the 'melbourne cup' and everyone in the race is really reckless because they know they will not be alive in a year regardless of the outcome. <br><br>Anyway, your post strongly reminded me of this book and I do not know why. But I guess it's because your in Australia and you put pictures of horse racing on your blog.
