You can hear the interview I did on the Book Show on Hobart Edge Radio here. Had a good time doing the show. Tassie is as close to a home base as we have right now, so I'm kind of keen to tie into the writers/readers world here. And that Paige Turner is an adept interviewer.
Of course, if I didn't read the newspaper story, you can be sure I didn't listen to the interview, either!
Excellent interview. Insightful questions. I was struck by the difference in a generation--how I was received in Townsville in the late 1960's when I used the term "kid." That word, instead of "child" was too American and too crass. Now you can use it freely, and the interviewer didn't blink.
ReplyDeletehard to out-crass the aussies these days... (Joking!)
DeleteMike — I am a long time lurker, but a man of few words. Of all the useful and interesting information you have on your site, I am embarrassed to say that it is this that breaks my silence: Paige Turner is the name of the interviewer on a Book show?! Seriously?
ReplyDeleteI think I can tell the story without betraying a confidence - Paige Turner is really Rachel Edwards. She said that using the pseudonym kept her from getting nervous on-air.
DeleteSo what's the etymology of Abuwabu?
Simply my baby sister unable to say my name (Adam) and getting rather morphed.
